What to Wear on Zoom

What to Wear on Zoom

For me, the best part of going back to school is the outfits and I wasn't going to let Zoom take that away. Something about getting dressed in my “school wardrobe” helps separate home from school. This separation is key in distance learning. But my style over Zoom is different especially since I haven't worn structured pants with a zip and a button since March. Even in quarantine, I don't let comfortable clothing stop me from dressing well, and neither should you. Keep reading to learn what to wear for Zoom school for a variety of budgets.

My first suggestion is to get a great pair of leggings. The most expensive pair I would recommend are these from Athleta. I don’t own these exact ones, but the Athleta leggings I do have are great quality and last a really long time. If you want to learn about their sustainability initiatives, read this article. My next favorite pair is slightly cheaper and from a sustainable and ethical brand called Girlfriend Collective. Their leggings are made out of recycled water bottles, they pay their employees a livable wage, and they go from size XXS-6XL. Overall, an amazing brand. Lastly, the Aerie Real Me leggings are a great option at only $30, much cheaper than the other two brands. These are super comfy and a good dupe for Lululemon leggings. Aerie isn’t sustainable, but they're still a great brand for using models that more accurately represent what our world looks like, and they don’t photoshop any of their models.

I am a huge fan of hoodies. Usually, I like to thrift my hoodies, so during quarantine, I have been exploring the world of “online thrifting.” I find that Depop has the trendiest and most affordable pieces second hand. My strategy is to always negotiate the price. I also like to search by brand,  and Depop usually has a lot of Champion, Nike, and Adidas.

Lastly, sweat-sets are so cute. Golden girly, is a black-owned brand that sells custom sweat-sets that are so cute! With sweatpants, I find that there’s a fine line between pajamas and just comfy pants. I find that colorful sweatpants are much better for school because it looks more like a real pair of pants than sweatpants. I thrifted my favorite sweats; they’re pink and velour. When I wear sweats, it helps me feel like it is a school outfit by making it monochrome. My favorite sweatpant outfit is a cropped pink hoodie, white top, and my pink sweats. Something about a monochrome sweat set feels very “Kardashian” and luxurious, even when it’s not.
