Monday: Decades Day
After a long buildup and so much excitement brewing, it’s time for spirit week to kick off! For the next five days the halls of JCHS are going to be filled with funny outfits, competition, and so much ruach. Let's take a look at Monday’s schedule, the first day of the most epic contest of the year!
As you enter the building keep an eye out for a “blast from the past” because each student, as part of a classic spirit week dress up day, is tasked with matching their outfit to a decade in history. However, spirit week will only officially start after we hear divrei torah from selected representatives of all four grades at Hakhel. This will set the tone for the rest of the week and inspire each grade to keep up their energy and ruach. To harness this newfound energy from the hype speeches, games will begin right away. Cup Stacking, pin the nose on the wolf, and a game new to the spirit week lineup this year, Limbo, will fill out the rest of the Hakhel block. An action packed lunch in the courtyard will then ensue with familiar favorites making a comeback such as musical chairs and hungry, hungry, hippos. The NYT Spelling Bee, another brand new game, will happen during Monday’s lunch, where contestants are tasked to create as many words as they can from seven letters. The longer the word, the more points earned. To wrap up day one, another popular JCHS game, cookie face, will make its long anticipated return. All grades better watch out for defending champion Jacob Ryan (‘23) who is looking to keep his crown and end the day on a good note for the seniors.
What a fun week this is going to be! Good luck to all the grades and may the best class win.
