Horrific Bloodshed Erupts Amid Attacks in Israel

This week, hundreds of missiles were fired at Israeli population centers from the Palestinian Territories in the latest bouts of aggression from terrorist organizations. In response, Israel targeted Hamas outposts within densely populated Gaza. At least 35 Palestinians, including an Israeli Arab family residing in Lod, were killed amidst the bombardment. A state of emergency was declared after rioters in Lod burnt down three synagogues.

In a statement issued on Monday, Secretary of State Tony Blinken said that the United States is "very deeply concerned about the rocket attacks... And, even as all sides take the steps to de-escalate, Israel, of course, has a right to defend its people and its territory."

As we witness the catastrophic events unfold from the safety of our homes, we are obliged to support our fellow Arabs, Palestinians and Jews overseas. Here are a few ways you can help:

Donate to charities:
Magen David Adom (The Red Shield of David) is Israel's national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service.

United Hatzalah is a corps of EMS first responders, composed of fully trained EMTs, paramedics, and physicians who immediately drop whatever it is they are doing at a given moment specifically to respond to emergencies within their local vicinity. It is a national network of volunteers that numbers around 6,000 men and women from all communities, cultures, and religions in Israel. Between now and May 14, a private donor will match your donation to UH up to $1 million.

Reach out to your elected representatives: Congressmen and women are elected by their constituents to represent their needs, so you should not feel intimidated to leave a message, write letters, or send emails. To find the contact information for your representative, use this handy tool. For starters, introduce yourself and describe the significance that their support will have on you.
