Winter Fashion Trends

Winter Fashion Trends

Winter is here! Living in San Francisco, I always find it hard to follow winter trends designed with colder parts of the country like New England or the Midwest in mnd. Who wants to wear boiled wool peacoats when it’s only 50 degrees out? Here are my favorite 3 winter trends that you can still wear in the Bay Area.

Jackets

This season I feel like I’ve seen puffer jackets EVERYWHERE. Specifically, I’m thinking of the North Face puffer Kendall Jenner seems to be wearing every day. While puffer jackets can be a little too warm for the San Francisco climate, a light puffer jacket made of corduroy or dark denim could still totally be appropriate. If puffers aren’t your speed, fleece jackets, like the North Face Denali jacket, are a San Francisco classic and super cute. Both of these jackets are CRAZY expensive though. To stay on trend for cheaper, I suggest thrifting or eBay. eBay tends to have SO many North Face jackets.

Colors

Brown and green are so in right now, but are very specific shades. Brown is cute in every shade, but the shade of green I’m really into is the Pantone Nile Green. I swear Emma Chamberlain owns this green color. These colors give off major 70s vibes and are super easy to style. Personally, I would wear brown in any garment whether it be a jacket, top, or pants (I would die for a pair of brown jeans). Green can be a little trickier to wear. I really like green tops, but I also use it to accent an outfit with accessories such as purses, hair clips, and scrunchies.

Flare Pants

Anyone over the age of  19 probably remembers when yoga pants were the epitome of fashion in the early to mid-2000s. Well, the flared pants (whether yoga or denim) are back and better than ever! Harry Styles is the king of this trend and is frequently spotted wearing it. The style fits very well with the times we live in because of its comfort and versatility. You can wear flare jeans, but also chill in comfortable flare leggings.

Trends are fun but remember to dress however you want! If none of these trends speak to you, don’t wear them! Fashion should be a creative outlet and a way to express yourself, not a source of stress.
